A rare 1st Limited and Numbered edition dating from 1979, in unread condition. George Moore was a cartoonist who chronicled the development of the bicycle through a series of illustrations in the 'Bicycling News' magazine. Moore was a contemporary of Frank Patterson, and although their drawings are similar in some respects those of Moore are perhaps just a little more technical in their execution? This is the first in a set of 6 volumes printed in the 1970's and 80's that compiled these illustrations and cartoons together for the first time. The original drawings have disappeared - in fact, many of them never existed, as Moore drew directly on to the litho plates - which were then 'wiped' and used for something else. As a history of the bicycle, social comment, or for just plain fun this set of books will be a welcome addition to the library of any cycling enthusiast. A hardback edition with 126 pages, all those illustrations, a dustwrapper, and printed on premium grade matt paper. Very scarce, and when these first editions are gone - well, we might reprint them - but why not grab an original whilst you can? The only reason that these books are now available is that the original publishers retired last year, and we have just purchased all their remaining stocks. To read yourself, to give as a charming gift, or to have as a presentation prize - these books are sure to be appreciated everywhere they are seen!
